Fringe Salon

I got my cosmetology degree nine years ago. I have always been artistic and this is the perfect way for me to express my creativity. I have specialized in bridal, event, and photo-ready hair and makeup for the last five years. My husband Nic and I own Fringe Salon located in downtown Carbondale. I accept clients in the salon or on location.

I am seasoned as a stylist for special occasions. My specialty is staying on schedule with large groups while giving them stunning looks that will last the entire event.

What did you contribute to the Marry a Masterpiece styled shoot and what was your inspiration?

I did the hair and makeup. I waited until the dress and color scheme were decided before even thinking what direction I wanted to go. I then waited until I started prepping the model’s hair and really worked with the texture of her hair and her natural beauty.

WHAT KIND OF CLIENTS DO YOU SERVE?

Anyone who wants to be done up for any kind of event or photo shoot, it’s so nice and relaxing to just sit back and enjoy the process.

I am always drawn to boho, soft hair and makeup. I am always happy to do classic structured hair and classic makeup. I really try to make everyone look like their best self.

What tips or advice can you give to couples who are in the midst of planning?

One: Book early! I have to tell so many people no when requesting me for their wedding day.

Two: Secure your timeline of the wedding day. Start by determining the time of the ceremony. Then you need to discuss with your photographer how early your party needs to be ready for photos. This is very important while keeping your day running smoothly.

From the Model

I loved the environment at Fringe Salon. It is such a unique place with an edgy, hipster vibe. Katie made me feel so welcome with her authentic and sweet personality. I could tell she was a genuine person which made time fly as we talked the entire time.
I was in love with my final hair and makeup. When Katie works, she is so calm and in her element! The work was amazing and I would definitely come to Fringe Salon again if I ever needed something done professionally.
I would recommend Katie and Fringe Salon to any bride, because I can tell she is effortlessly unique. She is relaxed while she works, and this helps clients feel at ease. She can hold a conversation and still be focused on her work. I normally go for a more glam look, but she made me fall in love with a soft, feminine look!
