5 texture trends for wedding perfection

If you are prepping for your nuptials, chances are your color palette has been center stage. If you haven’t been living under a rock, you have seen the thousands of mood boards, Instagram pages and blogs devoted to pairing the perfect color scheme. But the Cinderella of the whole gig, the stunning gal waiting in the wings to steal the show, yeah, that gal is texture! She is unassuming, effortless and the very detail that every wedding needs to send the décor over the top!

Okay, so what do I mean by texture? It can be added in a variety of ways, but below we have compiled our top 5 texture trends that leave our jaws on the floor.

Marble

Okay, we know not everyone can spring for real marble charger plates (dolla dolla bills, y’all), but there are tons of marble details that are easy peasy to incorporate that will transcend your deets like no other! Marble cake, anyone?!

Crushed velvet

For a while, velvet got a bad rap, and I can’t say I disagree. That velour goodness had an epic period of velour badness in the ’90s, but she is making a comeback and we could not be happier! Crushed velvet is luxurious, royal, a little edgy and basically totally badass.

Macrame

Here is where nostalgia meets festy. It kind of reminds us of placemats at grandma’s, while simultaneously having us daydream about a concert in the desert (Burning Man is basically screaming our names). This detail is all kindsa perfect for the boho bride and a foolproof detail where you cannot go wrong.

Cheesecloth

Draping, table runners, bouquet wraps…cheesecloth is so multi-talented we kinda want to get her a talent agent! This texture oozes organic detail and begs to be added to that outdoor wedding with café lights strung above and Frank Sinatra crooning in the background.

Disco Ball

Yep, we said it. Like velvet, disco balls got a bad rap after some wild nights in the  ’80s, but we have to admit we never stopped loving her and her shiny ability to spin you right round baby, right round. If you love some glitz but are edgier than your standard sequin, take the plunge with a little disco fever.

In conclusion, don’t leave texture up against the wall waiting to get asked to dance. Take her hand and lead her out onto that inviting dance floor for the prom night she deserves!
